Silanization (prophylactic tooth coating)

What is silanization?
Silanization, also known as preventive tooth coating, is a method developed to protect permanent children’s teeth from developing caries on their chewing surfaces.
How does the procedure work?
Dental sealants are a prophylactic procedure that involves the preventive “sealing” of the grooves on the chewing surface. This prevents bacteria and plaque from remaining deep in the fissure and thus the occurrence of caries.
When are sealants placed on teeth?

A prerequisite for placing sealants is a healthy tooth without any cavities. Therefore, in most cases, this is done shortly after the eruption of the corresponding tooth, still in childhood.

Is it safe and how long does it take?
  • The procedure for placing sealants is absolutely painless,
as there is no need to file the healthy tooth.
  • It is relatively fast, but requires precision to achieve a long-lasting result.
The painless protection of your child’s smile, protecting their teeth from cavities.

What is BRUXISM?

Did you know that teeth grinding and clenching occurs as often as snoring?

This unconscious action, known as bruxism, is both a medical and dental problem that affects the teeth and all the structures near them.

Bruxism not only damages the teeth, but it can also cause pain in the joints and chewing muscles, headaches, and other unpleasant symptoms.

The reasons? Stress, anxiety, malocclusion, high or unsmoothed fillings, untreated cavities are just a few of them.

The good news is that there is a solution. Treatment may include oral hygiene, wearing special braces, bite correction, prosthetic therapy, changing daily habits, and, if necessary, medication.

Why do teeth stain?

The natural color of teeth is far from just white. It usually has a slight yellowish or bluish tint. But when the color deviates from these shades, it is a matter of staining.

What are the causes of tooth discoloration?

Food and drinks:
Coffee, tea, red wine, and carbonated drinks can leave permanent stains on tooth enamel.

Smoking:
Cigarettes contain tar and nicotine, which cause yellowish and brown spots.

Mouthwashes:
Chlorhexidine, contained in some mouthwashes, can cause a reddish discoloration.

Medications:
Antibiotics such as tetracycline can lead to internal staining, especially in children and pregnant women.

Fillings:
Amalgam fillings often give teeth a gray tint due to lead corrosion.

Diseases and injuries:
Diseases such as eating disorders or liver disease can cause a yellowish tinge to the teeth.

How to deal with tooth staining?
  • Avoid coloring foods and drinks.
  • Maintain good oral hygiene.
  • Visit your dentist every six months.
  • Have your teeth professionally cleaned at least twice a year.
With proper care, your smile will remain healthy and radiant.
