What is silanization?
Silanization, also known as preventive tooth coating, is a method developed to protect permanent children’s teeth from developing caries on their chewing surfaces.
How does the procedure work?
Dental sealants are a prophylactic procedure that involves the preventive “sealing” of the grooves on the chewing surface. This prevents bacteria and plaque from remaining deep in the fissure and thus the occurrence of caries.
When are sealants placed on teeth?
A prerequisite for placing sealants is a healthy tooth without any cavities. Therefore, in most cases, this is done shortly after the eruption of the corresponding tooth, still in childhood.
